carbon footprint

Consumption: The UK is a major consumer of timber, equivalent to around 3% of current global consumption, although the UK accounts for only 1% of the world's population. This consumption rate puts pressure on the world's forests. Over 80% of this timber is imported from around the world.

Solutions: The number one solution is to reduce consumption and by ensuring the timber we use is adequately protected and maintained, it's economic life is extended, reducing the need for replacement.

If we do not need to replace outdoor timber because it has a longer economic life we will reduce the volume of timber sent to landfill which further reduces the production of methane gas (a major contributor to greenhouse gases).
